Statement issued by Dr. Manmohan Vaidya on 15th August 2017

Poojaneeya Sarsanghachalak Dr.Mohanji Bhagwat was invited by the management of Karnakayamman Higher Secondary school, Palakkad, Kerala, to participate in the golden jubilee celebrations of the school and Independence Day celebrations.

At 11 pm of 14th August 2017, the headmaster of the school received a notice from the District Collector stating that only the institutional heads or an elected representative can unfurl the national flag in the school. It is however, learnt that no other school had been given similar information.

After due consultations, the school authorities decided that they will proceed as planned and that Sarsanghchalakji must exercise his constitutional rights. Dr.Mohanji Bhagwat hoisted the flag along with other institutional heads of the school.

We condemn such brazen attempts by the CPI-M led government of Kerala to deny the basic citizen rights of celebrating Independence Day and their continuous attempts to poison the state of Kerala with divisive politics.

Leave Alone The Hillside Calm,
Kodaikkanal Locals Tell Irom Sharmila
Activist Irom Sharmila, of 16 - year fast protest fame, has been staying in Kodaikanal, a hill resort near Madurai, for some time and has planned to marry a British citizen soon. As per law, she submitted an application along with required documents to the Sub-Registrar, Kodaikanal and is awaiting the completion of the mandatory 30-day period to marry the British citizen under the Special Marriage Act. However since Irom Sharmila has indicated that she would fight for the rights and welfare of tribal people and other communities, locals are afraid  that it might lead to unrest in the hilly region. A section of the residents have asked her to leave Kodaikkanal. Outfits known for fanning disaffection among communities in the name of protecting Dalits which owe allegiance to the Church have come out in support of Irom Sharmila, much to the ire of the local population.

Press Release

August 9, 2017

A demonstration was organized at Jantar-Mantar on August 9, 2017 at 4.30 PM to raise a voice against the atrocities murder of S.L. Rajesh in Kerala. The independent intellectuals, academicians, artists and other people from all walks of life attended the demonstration. The killing of S.L. Rajesh, Basti Karyawah of RSS in Thiruvananthapuram, in a brutal manner is an example of the resistive and oppressive policies pursued by the Kerala Govt. The dictatorial behavior of CPI (M) govt. has put life and property of the political activists of other groups in danger.

The academic groups from the University of Delhi, Jawaharlal Nehru University, Jamia Millia Islamia, Indira Gandhi National Open University attended the demonstration in large numbers, reflecting the anger and agony of the civil society. The state govt. of Kerala has failed in its constitutional and moral obligations of protecting its own people.

Different political ideologies must be given space to survive. It has been observed that in the last 13 month of LDF rule in Kerala, 14 political murders have taken place. Four of the killed belonged to the Dalit community. All those people who were killed subscribed to a particular ideology i.e. the ideology of nationalism. The growing intolerance is a matter of serious concern. Kerala is emerging as a battleground of ideologies and political murders rather than a state abiding by the spirit of the Constitution of India. A select group of self proclaimed liberals and intellectuals who apparently have stood against Dalit killings in other states are conspicuously silent and absent on the issue of the murder of Rajesh.
Peace and security is the need of the hour in Kerala. Such killings will not serve any purpose but only disturb the entire social fabric of India. Save Society, Save India was raised as a majority voice.

The protest march was attended by many dignitaries such as Dr. Sonal Mansingh, Indian Classical Dancer, Vinay Saharabhudhe, Leader BJP, Jyoti Shukla, chairperson state finance commission, Sudipto Sen, Film Maker Arvind Srivastava, Lawyer, Prof. Kapil Kumar, IGNOU, Dr. I.M. Kapahy, Dr. S. Oberoi, ex-DUTA president, Rajiv Nayan, IDSA, Ashwini Mahajan, Swadeshi Jagran Manch, Dr. N.K. Kakkad, Prof,. Kuldeep Agnihotri, Himachal University VC, Prof, Girish Chandra Tripathi, VC BHU, Prof. PC Jha, Dr. Ajay Bhagi, NDTF President, Dr. V.S. Negi, Secretary, NDTF, Sushil Pandit and many more were present in the protest march. Prof. Rakesh Sinha was the convenor of the protest march.

The audience enthusiastically cheered the demonstrations especially that of Lezimby the women participants.

The dignitaries on the dais who were ShriBibekDebroy, RSS Sarsanghachalak Dr. Mohan Bhagwat, Rashrtra Sevika Samiti Pramukh Sanchalika Shantakka, Course In charge for men Adv. Alok Kumar, Course Incharge for women Sushree Kirtida Bhat.

Shri Bibek Debroy emphasised and elaborated on the meaning of Dharma, the principles of Dharma and its importance in life of a Bhartiya. He said that he feels privileged to be born in Bharat, a place where even the Gods regard it as a privilege to be born. He said that Karma and Dharma are related and the people who feel that Dharma that is the principles can be removed from the lives of people of Bharat are wrong in their thought. It is Dharma that permeates into the lives of people living here and it is Dharma that brings the sparkle in eyes of people despite their poverty.

Shri. Debroy mentioned that Dharma should not be translated into religion since the two differ etymologically. Where Religion binds, Dharma emancipates and liberates. He said that there are mainly four principles of Dharma viz. Notion of Atma; punarjanma or rebirth; Karma and the belief in a supreme force whether as Brahma or Parmatma. He elaborated on Moksha Dharma, stating that Moksha Dharma leads you to the answers of the questions of your existence and that the answers to these questions are different for everyone. He further elaborated the connection of Artha and kama with Dharma. He said that as individuals we try to change the world, but our individual effort is trivial. If we improve ourselves, the world will change automatically.

He concluded by quoting Katopanishad’s “uttishtha jagruta- arise and wake” shloka, stating that while traveling across Bharat he saw a turbulent, pulsating and impatient Bharat. A Bharat which is overcoming Tamas and imbibing Rajas. He invited the participants to become a part of Bharat which is rising and awakening to build a path for the world to follow.

Pujaniya Sarsanghachalak Mohanji Bhagwat spoke about the vision of Dr.Hedgewar behind starting Rashtriya Swayamsevak sangh, the emergence of Hindu Swayamsevak Sangh and the necessity of it for the world. He said that Dr.Hedgewar used to say that “the reasons behind the problems of Hindus is the Hindu society itself and hence it is necessary for the Hindu society to fix those problems.”

Dr.Bhagwat said that when we try to fix these problems, we do so because we consider the society as our very own, there is “aatmiyata” in doing so. We try to help not because we think we are great or the society needs our help, we help because of the feeling of oneness and the need to empower the Hindu society. He said that the underlying principle of Bharat is the truth of unity of existence and the realization of this truth gives eternal bliss and liberation. He discussed that often Dharma is reduced to and restricted to Religion. In Dharma, artha, kama and moksha all lead to Dharma but in Religion Artha and Kama do not relate to religion. Dharma binds artha, kama and moksha together to bring discipline in one’s life. In Dharma even the idea of Moksha is related to the liberation of many and not restricted to an individual.

Whenever we go into the root cause of the problems faced by the world, the common cause is found to be the destruction of Dharma. It is Bharat which can lead the path for the betterment of world, since it is Bharat which has Dharma in its soul.

Dr. Hedgewar in the session of Congress held at Nagpur which was presided by Mahatma Gandhi, had submitted 2 resolutions: first, to stop killing of cows and second, a capitalism free Bharat which will also help the world to be free from capitalism. By opposing Capitalism one does not oppose the earner, but it means opposing the mentality of materialism and exploitation.

Dr. Bhagwat said that Vishwa Dharma, that is Manav Dharma, will show the path to the world. He spoke about the emergence of Hindu Swayamsevak Sangh. When the Swayamsevaks went to different countries, they took with them the principles of Sangh. In different countries organizational work flourished under different names, Hindu Swayamsevak Sangh being the most common of all. The vision behind the work of Sangh in such countries was to bring the Hindus together as one society while remaining loyal to their respective countries.

Hindu Swayamsevak Sangh grew because of the efforts of the Swayamsevaks who went abroad and the next generations which kept the work going on. The first such Shakha was started in Kenya. The impact of Sangh is such the societies of the respective countries have realized the need for this kind of work. Recently, a similar effort has been initiated by taking inspiration from HSS. He concluded by saying that, it is the Hindu society which has the potential to lead the world and in true sense the Hindu Samaj is getting united to lead the World.

‘Rakshabandhan is a festival celebrating respect for womanhood’ said Shri Indresh Kumar in a Rakshabandhan program organized in Lucknow. Divinity resides wherever women are respected, whereas evil forces take birth when women are disrespected. Celebrating the festival with nature, a bond of security, Indresh Ji points out that our freedom, pride and culture are safe because of our Army guarding the borders. A swayamsevak is known for his good character and behavior. Bhagwan Ram and Krishna were also known for their good character.

Making an appeal for swadeshi, he said that the Government of India had bought China and Pakistan to the crossroads on the international arena. China is a traitor. We have to fight this monster called China. He called the Chinese military intrusion in Doklam as laughable. He said that the government will give an appropriate response to China, but we also have to contribute our mite by boycotting Chinese goods.

Indresh Kumar said, “People are not lost, land is not given up”. He appealed to all those who had, for various reasons, left the Hindu dharma over time to return back to its fold. He also appealed to make a conscious effort to prevent littering of public places. ‘Antyodaya’ or upliftment of the weaker sections of the society is the concept that transcends home, society, caste and religion, he said.

On the occasion of completing 60 years of National Book Trust, a two-day National Seminar on "Understanding the Nationality in Indian Literature" was inaugurated at the India International Centre, New Delhi. In the seminar, Dr. Krishna Gopal, the Sah-Sarkaryavah of the RSS, Smt. Mridula Sinha, Governor of Goa, Dr. Baldev Bhai Sharma, President of Trust, Vice Chancellor of Dharmeshala Himachal Pradesh, Dr. Kuldeep Chandra Agnihotri held their views in the inaugural session on the subject. HRD Minister Shri Prakash Javadekar has given a talk in the seminar by video message.

Dr. Krishna Gopal said that India has a special meditation style, nature of India has both - the geographical as well as spiritual nature. The Liberators have played an important role in India, giving priority to the country in their literature rather than province. The “Vanade-Matram” from “Anandamatha”, which developed the patriotism, became a mantra of entire India. Feeling it, the Krantikari accepted happily - without a sign of pain on their face – to be hanged over subversion. If there is no fundamental philosophy of India in the literary mind, its expression will remain incomplete. The literary interpreter of India expresses his literature culturally. The literature which has the capacity to connect everyone, in which there is love, sacrifice, compassion, spirituality, it is eternal. In the form of the words of Ramayana, Vedas, Upanishads, Jains Munis, compositions of the devotees of Bhaktikal, as the voice of Sikh Gurus, we have got such a literature that has kept India together, connected and united.
While delivering the inaugural speech, Dr Baldev Bhai Sharma said that on the auspicious occasion of completion of 60 years of national book trust, people of all resources donate books to the underprivileged children; books will be distributed by the National Book Trust, among those children. Unable to buy. For this, he called the enlightened people in the program and asked for suggestions. He said on this occasion that India is a country of sage and agriculture, in order to keep the country alive, there is a need to include patriotism and spirituality in literature. For this, the National Book Trust has started a Gallantry series for children, in which the compositions based on the life of the great people who inspired the nation have been published.

Kuldeep Chand Agnihotri said that the nationality in people is something like vibration in the heart. Despite so many external attacks, our nation and culture are alive, for this, our literature is one of the reasons. Our ancient literature written in poetry form, which describes all areas including pilgrimage places. From such literature, the country's religious and cultural forms have been united. People of North India travelled in South India as pilgrimage, in the north from south India, east to west India and from west to east India have been associated with thousands of years in the same way. Therefore, India's soul is a nationality based on spirituality. The National Book Trust is working to awaken this consciousness.
